Independent Theatres of Prague - a series of interviews

The bachelor's thesis Independent theatres of Prague - a series of interviews focuses on Prague's theatre scene, especially on independent theatres and their representatives. The first part of the thesis is theoretical and defines the independent theatre scene, history of theatre in the Czech Republic and Czechoslovakia, respectively. It also presents The Czech Association of Independent Theatre and theatres, whose representatives I will interview. The second part is also theoretical and defines a journalistic interview as a genre. It deals with the phases of the creation of an interview and a brief history of it. Interviews with representatives of theatres are also part of the work and they reflect the current situation and focus on concepts defined in the theoretical parts. The aims is to create interviews that could be a part of cultural section of the mainstream media. Interviews are up-to-date and provide interesting information.
By the eyes of a stranger - a series of interviews with foreigners living in Czech Republic

The Batchelor's thesis entitled "Through the eyes of a stranger: series of interviews with foreigners living in the Czech Republic" is composed of practical and theoretical part. The practical part consists of five publicist interviews with foreigners living permanently in the Czech Republic. Authentic portrait photographs complement the interviews, and the final result is presented as a photobook. The theoretical part puts the interviews into context and acquaints the reader with the migration issues in the Czech Republic with a focus on voluntary and permanent migration. The first chapter defines terms such as migration, migrant and foreigner and describes different types of migration. The causes and effects of migration are also discussed. The author then presents statistical data on foreigners in the Czech Republic and, by comparing available research, analyzes how the Czech public perceives foreigners. The last chapter deals with the media image of foreigners, analyzes the current way in which the media inform about foreigners and the stereotypes that appear in connection with them. Finally, some of the journalistic principles in portraying migrants are discussed.
